My First 5k

I ran my first 5k last Saturday! It was the Red Dress 5k supporting woman's heart health. Everyone was encouraged to wear a red dress. Nate surprised me by having the kids all make t-shirts cheering me on! That was so sweet!!!
It ended up being 50 degrees and windy! I still wore my red dress! My friend Ashley, her first 5k too, ran with me. My goal time was finishing around 30-31 minutes. So I told Nate to plan on coming back to the finish line around 30 minutes. Well as I come running toward the finish line I keep scanning the crowd for Nate and the kids and didn't see them anywhere! Then I saw the clock said 25 MINUTES! I was so excited that I ran the race 5 minutes faster than what I thought I was going to! The Glory goes to the Lord! I was fighting a sinus infection and I didn't think I would make good time because of that. The day before the race, the Lord gave me some verses that I want to share with you. Proverbs 4:25-27, "Let your eyes look directly ahead and let your gaze be fixed straight in front of you. Watch the path of your feet and all your ways will be established. Do not turn to the right nor to the left, turn your foot from evil." I wrote these verses out and folded up the paper and stuck it in my sleeve. My race was a physical expression of my spiritual race. It was a great rush and thrill, physically and spiritually for me. I was pumped all day! I'm looking forward to the next race! The glory goes to the Lord! Wooo Hooo!!!
